Reflecting on the various technologies / software we have explored this semester, pick the three (3) that will most effectively help you create a learner-centered classroom where students would be actively engaged this their learning. At the beginning of your final blog entry mention the content area and the age level of the students with whom you intend to work.
Briefly explain how you would integrate these choices into your teaching and your future students' learning.
As I mentioned numerous times throughout the semester, not every technology is appropriate for every learning situation. As such, which technologies/software are not appropriate for your content area and/or student level. (Discuss at least one.)

After I Graduate I am planning on teaching either kindergarten or first grade in the content are of math.Out of every assignment that we did for etpt2020 the three that I would use in my class would be concept mapping(kidspiration), newsletter and databases .

In order to use these types of activities with my future students learning I would do different things. Like the concept mapping with kidspiration is a good fun way to teach children in Kindergarten how different colors or letters are pronouced because you can put sounds behind them so when they click on them they hear and repeat. They can also learn shape patterns or the value of coins or so many other things because kidspiration has so many different possibilties of teaching them in a fun educational and technological way. The newsletter would be used so that me and my future students would work together as a class to make one and they would tell me what to put on it so i could tell they were understanding what I was teaching them. Also I would use databases to help students visually see what things match up with other similar objects or how they are different from other things. It is also good for them to start learning how to read and use graphs.

The one thing that I think might be alittle hard for my students is the geotechnologies. It would be fun as a class experience but there is not much that you can do with it that younger children would understand and be able to use or navigate by themselves.

After exploring in class the following Emerging Technologies: a) Games, b) Interactive Whiteboard Activities, c) Simulations/Role Playing, & d) Virtual Reality/ Worlds (links found HERE), discuss whether or not you see a use for each of these four technologies. Then, pick two different, specific activities (a game, a simulation, an interactive whiteboard activity, or a Virtual Reality or World) and discuss in detail how it engages students in their own learning.

After I got to play around on the different types of games I think that in some situations it will be a good thing to use in class. Sometimes playing a game with the children to help them learn is a better wat for them to remember then just telling them how it is. If you play a game then the students have something that they can relate the subject to when they think back and remember what it was.
One activity that i chose to try out are the math mahjong game(http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/mathgames/mahjong/mahjongMath_addition_easy.htm). If you have ever played mahjong then you know that it is a matching game However in this game they give you addition problems and the answers to the different problems. In order to get rid of the mahjong blocks you need to match the problem to the correct answer. This game is a good way for students to learn how to add because it adds competition to it so they want to learn the answers so they can win the game. The second activity i chose to try out is the tree count activity(http://ngfl.northumberland.gov.uk/christmas/tree%20count.html) under the white board links. You can do this activity on the smartboard also. Pretty much you pick the number of trees and by either taking one away or adding on in you can have the kids count to tell you how many trees there are. It will help them see the difference inbetween subtracting and adding.

Reflect on how teachers could use databases and/or spreadsheets to either engage their students in their learning and/or use either(or both) of these programs to create materials for visual learners. Cite specific exampls from your DB and SS Projects to illustrate your points.

I believe that teachers now-a-days use databases and spreadsheets to help students see the things they are learning about and how they are the same or different or even how they relate to each other. For my database assignment i had identify what things are living or non-living. I used the chart to show how you know things are living and if they can't reproduce , grow , move, eat by themselves then they aren't living. By having that database and the graphs to go along with it. It is an easy way to help students visualize and learn about it.

Concept Mapping

Reflect on how Concept Mapping Software can be used to engage students in their own learning in a learner-centered classroom.

For the last project we had to make concepts map to show how our students could use them in real llife schools. I plan in teachin kindergarten and in the content area of math. For my concept map my benchmark was B. Extend sequences of sounds and shapes or simple number patterns, and create and record similarpatterns.(for kindergarten:Identify, create, extend and copy sequences of sounds (such as musical notes),shapes (such asbuttons, leaves orblocks), motions (suchas hops or skips), andnumbers from 1 to 10.
For the concept map i created three sequences and gave them three different objects to choose from to complete the sequence then i gave them different colored squares and asked them to create their own sequence.
They would do the concept map on the smartboard in class as a class.
Concept mapping is a good way for kids to one know how things connect and two show that they learned what you were taught them. It gives them a hands on experience with using the smartboard and showing what they learned.
Concept mapping on kidspiration is a good way to teach children how to use technology and at the same time be showing and doing what you were trying to teach them in class.
Using it in the classroom especailly with the Smartboard is a great way to get them involved in the class and teach them how to use technology

Newsletter Reflection

Tell us the level of students with whom you plan on teaching as well as your content area or the content area you have chosen for the newsletter. Tell us the standard you are working with. Then, describe the benchmark and/or grade level indicators you were working with on the Newsletter assignment.

Most importantly, reflect on how your newsletter activity represents a learner-centered activity where your future students (on their own or with younger children, working with the teacher) would be able to construct meaning regarding the benchmark or grade level indicators by using the technology of word processing.

The level of students that i plan on teaching is Kindergarten. Science is the area that i covered in the newsletter. The standard that i am working with with is doing scientific inquiry and i choose to teach the students how to use one or more of their senses to observe and learn about objects, organisms, and phenomena for a purpose(e.g to record, to classify, compare, or talk about)

The newsletter activity that I did would help the students begin to understand how easy it is to do things on a computer. By having them help me figure out what to put on the newsletter would show me that they were truly learning the things that i was trying to teach over the past couple of weeks. In a way it would be like they were trying to reteach me what they learned. I would be teaching them some things about technology that in the future they would be using as they reached higher grades and had to do more with computers. So in order to do this, I would sit them down in circle as a class and use a prompter to show the computer screen. Then they would help me pick out clip art images to use in order to classify them into different groups using sight as their sense to help them classify the objects.

Wikipedia.

After I read all the research on wikipedia i realized that it was more positive to use then negative. I realized that you may be able to change things but it is very hard to keep the false statements that you put because of all the people that are working to keep wikipedia up-to-date. I would use it now for some stuff but i still dont think i would use it as a source. But I do see wikipedia in a more positive way.
